President's Message

BWA Sisters,

As I grow older, I am amazed at how fast time passes. The summer has flown by, and here we are ready to start a new BWA year.  As President, I would like to challenge each of you to the following this year:

RENEW your commitment to our wonderful organization.  Renewal not in the form of payment of your dues, but to our mission to acknowledge the accomplishments of women and to provide support and encouragement for professional development and community enhancement.

RECONNECT by attending our monthly meetings. You will learn something new about the community in which we live, or gain insight to assist your business with the diverse speakers we have planned.  In addition, you will be able to network with our amazing members!

REACH OUT   by recruiting new members to the group. As with any organization, we need to grow our membership.  Invite at least one potential new member, who is a woman in a position of leadership, to one meeting. If we each secured a new member, the future of our organization would  be secured.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our first meeting on September 12, 2016, at Lenore's Table at The Global Grille.

Holly Eakin Moody

President 2016-2017

Member News

Sad news is better when shared:

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that our beloved BWA Chapter Administrator, Debbi Hartman lost her loving husband, Donald Feiner to cancer on July 4th. Those who knew about this, thank you ALL for your support and prayers during his long illness.”

Anyone wanting to send Debbi condolences can do so at:

“Our dear friend and BWA member, Teresa B. Sjogren passed away in July as a result of complications from a fall. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made through contributions to the Broward College Foundation in support of the Terresa B. Sjogren Endowed Scholarship fund she created to help deserving students.”

SAVE THE DATE!!!

MONDAY OCTOBER 10th....6--9 PM

“ A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF TERE SJOGREN”
WINE and CHEESE at THE NEW RIVER INN

Jill Beach, reports that on August 10th, Pat Zeiler, Executive Director of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society and also a member of BWA, was the presenter at a quarterly free Lunch & Learn for Seniors that VITAS Healthcare (my company) and Fred Hunter’s Memorial Services co-sponsor.  Pat did a wonderful job speaking on Women Pioneers of Broward County.  She truly helped our attendees ‘Travel Back in Time.’ It is just one example of how Broward Women’s Alliance members support and promote each other.  The audience complimented her talk enthusiastically.

Anita Finley, Publisher of BoomeTimes presented another successful Seniors Expo at a new venue, Sunny Isles Beach in Miami-Dade the end of August. Remember the name of Biana Pinchuck as she performed there for the Expo. At 3, she is a child protegy, and has been playing the violin since she was 7 and singing opera since she was 9. Maybe we can convince her father to bring her to one of our meetings?
“Live every day to its fullest! Care for each other! A big hug goes a long way!”
